Angola |
The south west African country of Angola is fertile and richly resourced, yet its history is dominated by the slave trade and colonialism.
Today it is still deeply affected by its past, and the foreign intervention and civil war that shattered the county after independence. However, the resilience and independent mindedness of its people has meant that Angola has refused to accept a servile role in the globalised world economy. This has brought it into serious conflict with organisations such as the International Monetary Fund, IMF, but has opened the door for countries such as China and India to become closely involved in the rebuilding of the war torn economy.
