On Friday 18th July, Madiba's actual birthday, ACTSA supporters created a massive South African Flag of pledges on Parliament Square.
Participants held up their pledges for justice, rights and development at exactly 1pm whilst they sang 'Happy Birthday Nelson'.
Many others, throughout the UK, marked the occassion by hoolding up their birthday pledges at 1pm and groups, schools, towns and cities throughout Brtain have been marking the day with their own festivities.
Please email ACTSA any pictures or stories of your Mandela at 90 celebrations and we'll promote them on the website.
ACTSA is encouraging councils, trade unions, schools, faith groups and individuals to mark Mandela's 90th birthday throughout the year and not just on July 18th.
For smaller groups and individuals 
We want you, and your friends, family and colleagues to take a photo of people holding up their own personal birthday pledges for justice, rights and development for southern Africa.
You can upload your pictures onto ACTSAs Mandela at 90 Flickr website and we'll make sure they get forwarded on to
Nelson Mandela.
You might want to write your own pledge but here are a couple of examples:
"We pledge our continued solidarity with the people of southern Africa as they continue to fight against poverty, HIV and AIDS, inequality, racism and other injustices and work for peace and a better future for all."
"We salute your lifelong contribution to the movement for freedom, democracy and rights for all. I pledge to campaign
against poverty in southern Africa."
"Happy birthday Madiba and here's to your 100th! I pledge to support development, justice and rights for Southern Africa."
For larger groups
For larger groups of at least 100 people, you could take part in our giant South African flag of pledges activity.
