Local Authority Action for Southern Africa (LAACTSA) was formed in 1995 from the authorities which had previously supported the Anti-Apartheid Movement.
LAACTSA was set up, to assist in the reconstruction of Southern Africa following the defeat of Apartheid and undertakes work on many critical issues facing the peoples of the region.
The administration of LAACTSA is co-ordinated by Glasgow City Council. LAACTSA is keen to tie its work into any strategic approach the various High Commissions and Embassies of the southern African countries, and generate the maximum support we can for this work from local authorities and local communities in the UK.
