This year there have been more and more reports of police brutality and an even greater deterioration in political and civil freedoms in Swaziland
ACTSA campaigns for rights for all Swazis, but we urgently need your help. Please donate £20 or as much as you can to support freedom and democracy for Swaziland.
In May, police arrested activist Sipho Jele for wearing a T-shirt supporting a pro-democracy political party. He was later found dead in his prison cell. The police claim that Jele committed suicide by hanging himself, but pathologist reports say there were signs of him having been strangled.
Police brutality, abductions, harassment, restrictions on speech and the repression of human rights – if this was anywhere else in the world the international community would be up in arms. But this is Swaziland - too small, apparently, to warrant international media attention or real action from governments worldwide.
That is why we must act today to make sure the people of Swaziland are not overlooked. Please work with ACTSA to demand that civil society has the right to freedom from harassment. Your donation will enable us to internationalise the campaign for democracy and rights for Swaziland.
We believe that the people of Swaziland deserve to live without fear and repression. Please give today and help make freedom and democracy a reality for Swaziland. |
