Delegation Blog
The 2011 Youth and Student Delegation took place between 4-15 September. The group of 12 from a variety of British organisations visited Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria in South Africa and a number of areas in Swaziland. The group gained an understanding of the successes and ongoing challenges facing the new South Africa and an insight into the struggle for democracy and rights in Swaziland. They shared ideas with their counterparts in trade unions and youth and student organisations, gained an understanding of South Africa’s history and the legacy of apartheid and looked at development in the region.
Throughout the delegation the group kept a blog of their activities: 4th September, Cape Town: Robben Island and Signal Hill 5th September, Cape Town: District 6 Museum, Langa and an evening with Denis Goldberg
