What is ACTSA doing for Mandela at 90?
ACTSA has launched the Nelson Mandela at 90 web pages to promote the campaign to the public, featuring a facility where you can make your birthday pledge and featuring lots of materials to help you organise and promote your own local activity. You can also tell others what you are doing.

We are providing model Mandela at 90 birthday pledge cards for local groups and councils to encourage the public to make their birthday pledges to mark the occasion.

ACTSA and our sister organisation Local Authority Action for Southern Africa (LAACTSA) have written to those councils who have honoured Nelson Mandela, have a record of activity on, justice, rights and development for southern Africa encouraging them to organise events, involve their communities in activity. We are encouraging councils to have Mandela at 90 birthday cards people can sign.

ACTSA will not be producing merchandise with Mandela's image for the Mandela at 90 campaign as we believe that the occasion of his 90th Birthday should not be used to commercialise Mandela's name. This is a view also shared by many of those close to Madiba. ACTSA wants to celebrate Mandela the man, the movement that he represents and some of the other great leaders that led the fight against aparthied in South Africa.

ACTSA groups and contacts including trade unions are organising events across the country from Glasgow to Tolpuddle.
