Rivonia Trialists
On 11th July 1963 19 members of the ANC were arrested on Liliesleaf Farm in Rivonia, Johannesburg. The accused went on trial between November 1963 and July 1964, accused of 221acts of sabotage. The trial, condemned by the UN Security Council, saw eight of the defendants given life imprisonment. Amongst the trialists were:
